On December 16, 2009 Rob VE1KS with the assistance of Brian VE1RCF and Eric VE1CFY replaced the controller at the VE1BO repeater site. The transplant went well and all was working fine. The next day the system went down. Due to commitments over the holidays and adverse weather VE1BO remained off the air.

Thursday December 31, 2009 Brian VE1RCF and Eric VE1CFY attempted to gain access to the site and assess the problem with the hopes of making repairs. Brian wanted to test out the new RAV4 he found under the Christmas tree. Upon leaving the paved road and heading in the access road all went well at first. About half way to the site the snow started to get deeper and deeper. Starting up a long grade  the RAV4 broke through the 20 cm of snow and came to rest on the ice beneath it. After some pushing and moving of snow it was decided going further was not possible that day.

Sunday January 31, 2010 VE1BO came back to life after being off the air since mid December. Tom VE1TA with the assistance of John VE1CZC and his snowmobiles made the trek into the site. The problem was found and tests were made to ensure all was working properly.

This is how the NSARA and its members pull together to get things done.
